Quilting challenge : One Monthly Goal : Snails

Quilting Challenge Reset

Elm Street Quilts

Ok so, being totally honest, July was a big fail as far as my One Monthly Goal challenge was concerned. The pinwheels remain in their project bag, and never even saw the light of day this month! In fact, instead of making any progress on any of my WIPs I joined a number of new sew a longs, and added quite a few “to dos” to my list.

I’m not entirely sure which way to feel about this development. Do I just chalk it up as part of the life of a crafter or do I give myself a stern talking to….while I figure this out, how about we attempt a ‘do over’ for August.

This time my plan for the One Monthly Goal August link up is to tackle my snails. The sew a long to finish making the snails has just ended so it’s the perfect choice from my FAL wishlist.  You can see all the snails I made at #darrelrobsnails This little guy proved the most popular!

Here’s all the details of this project:

13. Snails!!! (block making /quilting stage)

I have been making these snails every sunday since the start of the year as part of the #snailday sew a long hosted by @gnomeangel. Pattern by @penandpaperpatterns. Due to the sew a long being cut short due to lack of interest, the making of snails will wrap up on 30 July. I’ve started quilting some, and still have 4 snails to make. I’ve already started quilting my snails, though I’m still undecided about whether I will make just the cot size or go ahead and finish all the snails. I’ve got snail bodies cut to make the full 42, so that’s a consideration.

Here’s hoping August is more successful than July!

  1. Love those snails. (I was tempted by this QAL too.) Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
